Liquid Photopolymer
Sterling has been manufacturing precision controlled, liquid photopolymer plates since 1978. By constantly upgrading our equipment and resins we continue to achieve the highest quality plates. Applications include corrugated printing, and gluing dies.
- Maximum liquid polymer size is 48” x 30”
- Available in almost any thickness
- Make PLAQUES, with our textured back hard polymer
Sheet Photopolymer
Sterling supplies sheet photopolymer plates that can be used for many different flexographic applications such as plastic bags, tape and label, packaging and corrugated carton printing. We can help you make the correct plate section for your machine to ensure the best quality.
- Maximum sheet photopolymer plate size is 42” x 60”
- Available in .067”, .112”, .125”, .155” and .250” thicknesses
- Printight and Rigilon plates are available with either a metal or plastic base and come in a variety of thicknesses
Plate Mounting
Sterling mounts our plates on many different substrates depending on your application. This includes: magnetic backing, tin, PVC, cushion mount, and plastic sleeves. We use only the best flexographic adhesives on all of our mounts.
- Optichek Plate mounter ensures our accuracy in mounting plates to customer’s specifications and gives us an actual colour die proof
- We can take your .cad files and output a die-line for carton design and mounting
Attention Corrugators: We can also sew our lead edge and sew or punch our trail edge as required!
Rubber Plates
Sterling has been vulcanizing rubber plates since we opened our doors in 1945, so saying we’re great is an understatement. We can produce natural, vinyl, synthetic, and silicone based plates to any thickness and almost any durometer.
- Maximum rubber plate size is 28” x 32”
- Tolerance of +-.002” even at our maximum size
Silicone Hot Stamping Plates / Sheets (Tipping Dies)
Silicone rubber conforms to the shape of the part and requires less pressure than steel or brass dies making it ideal for smaller hot stamping presses. Clips, screws or heat bonding tape can be used for mounting pre-cut silicone shapes. We also offer resurfacing and reconditioning of existing silicone cylinders. Silicone sheets with flexible backing of thin aluminum are used for gently curved shapes.
- Accuracy: Dies can be cut to special sizes, drilled, bevelled, notched or finished in any way to fit any machine. Contoured, machined, and pre-registration dies are also available for perfect die registration
- Customization: Aluminum comes in standard thicknesses of 1/32”, 1/16”, 1/8”, 3/16” and 1/4” but special thickness requests are our speciality
- Efficiency: Convex, concave or multiple heights on one die can also be manufactured to enable one pass hot stamping
- Hardness: Available in 50, 60, 70, and 80 durometer to match the product you are printing on
- Variety: Available in different types of silicone with different heat transfer properties for enhanced foil transfer
- Full in-house creative artwork available as well as artwork touch-ups
The perfect silicone for your specific job!
Softbelly Sheet – For difficult stamping jobs involving multi-cavity moulds and irregular surfaces a silicone sheet with a tough face and soft resilient core of conforming rubber
Contoured Dies – For parts with compound curves, dies are moulded to the contour of the part to precise tolerances
Flat Dies – Wide range of thicknesses and backings make from photographically produced moulds
Flexback Dies – For shapes with modest curves, flat dies on a flexible aluminum backing can be used. Useful up to 100 degrees around a cylindrical shape eliminating the need for expensive machines moulds
Rubber Type and Date Codes
Rubber type can be ordered in many ways to meet your unique coding needs. The most common is ribbed-base (Unilok) type that comes in standard letter and figure sets. Custom logo and date sets are easily produced in any configuration (ie Julian) as well as almost any thickness or shape.
- All rubber available in flat back (with or without adhesive), Perflex, T-Type for M-15 Holders
- Offered in natural, vinyl or synthetic rubbers depending on the ink and solvent configuration you are using
