Quality, Process & Improvement Technologist 

Full-time: Monday to Friday 

Department: Quality Planning & Engineering Department 

Report Timings: 8:30AM – 5 PM 

Reports To:  Quality Planning & Engineering Department  

Purpose of Position: 

  • Provide required support for QPED Department to update Sterling’s Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental Management System 

  • Monitor manufacturing processes to identify ways to reduce losses, decrease time requirements, improve quality and equipment maintenance. 

Result Areas of the Position:  

  • Implement ISO 9001 Quality Management Standards in Sterling Marking Products Inc. ISO 9001 Quality Manual.   

  • Update and maintain all forms related to Sterling’s work instructions, policies, procedures, Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Program including> MSDS, JHSC, WSIB, WHMIS, Waste and Quality Management Administration 

Qualifications: 

  • PC knowledge and experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. 

  • Should have relevant Manufacturing / Quality / EH&S compliance  

Activities and Tasks: 

  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and practices 

  • Plan, estimate or schedule production work 

  • Recommend corrective or preventive actions to ensure or improve product quality or reliability 

  • Identify opportunities for improvements in quality, cost or efficiency of automation equipment 

  • Maintenance of factory production equipment 

  • Prepare quality Management System Reports from Quality records i.e. Reject Tags, Internal/External Audits, Non-Conformances 

  • Word processing of quality system documentation: policies and procedures, forms, and work instructions 

  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) revision and maintenance.  

  • Administrative requirements of Hazardous Material Storage, Handling, Containment, and Disposal 

  • Assist in design, evaluation and installation of new equipment  

  • Redesign existing equipment/processes/plant layout 

  • Assist research & development in the planning, design, set-up and conducting of tests 

  • Other office duties as assigned

Sales Support/Graphic Artist

Full-time: Monday to Friday

Department: Sales Support / Customer Service

Report Timings: 8:30 AM to 5 PM

Reports To: Marketing & Customer Service Manager Supervised by Director of Manufacturing

Purpose of Position:

  • Work directly with sales support stakeholders and key customers to understand and interpret customer needs and product details, including image manipulation.
  • Support graphic design initiatives in Marketing dept and client facing programs.

Qualifications:

  • Graphic Design training and knowledge for print and/or physical media.
  • General knowledge of production printing and signage (offset, digital and wide format/signage) and workflow processes a requirement. Detail oriented with the ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with teammates and clients effectively.
  • Understanding of customer relationship and service best practices.
  • Effective written communication.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Exceptional organizational and follow through skills.
  • Presentation skills in online and in person environments.
  • Very detail and task oriented.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced multi-task environment; thrive on challenges.
  • Degree /diploma in Graphic Design or design capabilities demonstrated through strong portfolio
  • Proficient in Adobe CC Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs – with emphasis on Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Key Accountabilities:

Customer Service

  • Determining goals and developing action plans to achieve them.
  • Assist with large project management: (direct ships to clients, distributions, and kitting).
  • Coordinating information, samples, proofs and pricing by email, phone, occasional in person meetings and walk in clients.
  • Entering orders for print and signage products.
  • Informal and formal quote preparation. Assist with special proposals.
  • Coordinating pricing from various sources.
  • Ensuring all quotes (internal/external) contain proper margin. Striving to increase margins based on market or situation of project.
  • Coordinating sample production and approval process.
  • Coordinating dynamic graphical template requirements.
  • Coordinating activities with outside vendors.
  • Ensuring effective communication between clients and all internal Sterling stakeholders.
  • Assist with online meetings and demonstrations as required.
  • Coordinate and maintain product information, pricing, and production details by Customer and Product.
  • Participate in project success evaluations including sales reporting.
  • Review open order reports to assist with ensuring accuracy and on-time order fulfillment.

Operations /Website Development

  • Setting goals and maintaining task lists.
  • Assisting with administrative, onboarding, development and coordination functions of assigned client projects and branded websites along with production workflow to maintain project plans.
  • Responsible for maintenance of customer websites from order generation to shipping to final payment.
  • Using Adobe suite, work with supplied images or research of required images to add to branded websites.
  • Learn how to operate our CMS – content management system for the development of new sites and the editing of existing websites.
  • Internal project and customer maintenance documents are maintained to support project/program, according to best practices and/or policy.
  • Responsible to create goals to keep projects on schedule, solve problems and manage follow up in all stages of customer cycle.
  • Face to face meetings with clients if required to assist sales representatives and enhance relationships with key clients.
  • Other graphic design projects as assigned.

Graphics Platemaker: Photopolymer Operator / Die Mounter / Etcher/Vulcanizer

Full-time: Monday to Friday

Department: Graphics/ Manufacturing

Reports to: Director of Manufacturing

Purpose of the Role:

  • Manufacturing photopolymer, rubber, silicone, and magnesium plates according to specifications.
  • Planning and managing project timelines and schedules effectively.
  • Completing and maintaining accurate reports and paperwork for ongoing projects.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, potential clients, and employees.
  • Performing routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal functionality.

Results Areas of Position:

  • Manufacture high-quality photopolymer, rubber, silicone, and magnesium plates according to specifications and work orders.
  • Plan and manage project timelines effectively, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting deadlines.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records and reports for ongoing projects.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, potential clients, and colleagues.
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning optimally.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of flexographic printing and processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills with experience in graphic design programs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proactive problem-solving skills (an asset).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with staff.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-department environment with multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility in working hours and reliable attendance.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to lift 20-60lbs with good coordination.
  • Background security check required.

Activities & Tasks:

  • Prepare and vulcanize rubber/silicone plates according to customer specifications and yellow dockets, and grind plates as needed.
  • Produce high-quality photopolymer plates for liquid and sheet systems, and magnesium plates, meeting customer specifications.
  • Set up and maintain equipment, performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Perform tasks such as changing washout systems, acid baths, rolls, and inks as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Order materials and supplies as needed, and record and submit reports.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and resolve issues.
  • Keep management informed and submit reports as required.
  • Collaborate positively with colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Assist with quoting special proposals and accompany field sales calls when needed.
  • Able to lift 20-60lbs up to heights of 36”.
